Harlingen Assisted Living
Located in South Texas, this small Type B assisted living facility is a great example of Rheinlander Architects' ability to blend efficient senior care design and creative master planning in order to meet the Owner's needs and market demands. Our design approach maximized density while maintaining an elevated aesthetic appeal.

What We Did
We designed a 16 bed facility on the site that maximized usable square footage in a unique way that created optionality for future expansion while satisfying all zoning requirements. In order to achieve this, we positioned the front of the building away from the road and elevated the asthetics of the side of the building to maximize curb appeal for passers by and the broader community.
The modern farmhouse design evoked a home like quality via maximizing natural light in the living, dining, and activity spaces across an open floor plan that seemlessly accomodated the various needs and preferences of the indivdual community members. We created vibrant outdoor spaces in the front and rear of the complex, along with a pet door and fenced yard, to appeal to residents who enjoy spending their time outside. For the days when the weahter is not as inviting, the design incorporated an interior circulation path that encouraged activity throughout the year. All of the hallways were designed to accomodate two-way wheelchair traffic with ease and meet all universal accessibility needs.
